The Last Blade 2 is a fighting game. In this case, "fighting" means something completely different from most fighting games—it doesn't have special moves or flashy super-attacks. Instead, it's all about swordplay. You'll lead your character into hand-to-hand combat with a variety of colorful enemies and try not to get killed in the process. Starting out, you'll be able to learn a variety of techniques, called Arts. The longer you hold the button, the more powerful the technique becomes—and it can then be used in combat. The blades are also your weapon, and they come in various shapes and sizes. The main one you'll start with is long and straight, but as you progress through the game, you'll unlock other blades that are shorter and wide, making them good for slashing enemies from above or below. The stages are all based on real-life locations from feudal Japan. You'll find yourself exploring abandoned castles or wandering through dark forests at night, making your way toward your next target—a hidden fortress deep in enemy lands. The enemies are also based on real-life characters from that period—and they have names just like their counterparts in history. The enemies are tough, but don't go into each battle without a plan. Learn the enemy's pattern of move and attack behavior, and make sure to be well-prepared for when it comes time to fight them. If you do well, you might even get the chance to face the person in charge in combat in one of the game's boss battles!
